Oatpad is a notes app for Mac. Your notes are stored locally on your device and are never sent to our servers.
What we don't do
We do not collect, store, or transmit your notes or personal data. There are no accounts, no telemetry, and no third-party tracking inside the app.
What the app connects to
Oatpad connects to the internet for the following purposes only:
- License activation and validation — when you activate or validate a license key, the app communicates with LemonSqueezy (our payment provider) to verify your purchase. This sends your license key and a device identifier. No personal data or note content is transmitted.
- Update checks — the app periodically checks GitHub for new versions. No personal data is sent.
- iCloud sync (optional) — if you enable iCloud sync, your notes are synced across your Macs via Apple's iCloud infrastructure. This is handled entirely by Apple under their own privacy policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
Website analytics
Our website (oatpad.app) uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. No information is shared with third parties. Plausible is compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR. This analytics only applies to the website, not the app.
Your data
Your notes are stored as files on your Mac. You own them, you can export them, or delete them at any time. If you enable iCloud sync, copies are also stored in your iCloud Drive, subject to Apple's privacy policy.
